FANTASTIC FOUR FLOPS IN BOX OFFICE DEBUT !!!

Mission: Impossible remains champ.......

Marvel's First Family couldn't overcome blistering reviews, months of bad publicity, and its own director's troublemaking tweet as Fantastic Four opened well below expectations this weekend.

20th Century Fox's reboot had initially been projected to open in first place with anywhere from $30-$40 million, but instead settled for a second place bow with an estimated $26.2 million.

The superhero movie, which reportedly cost at least $120 million to produce plus tens of millions more to market, will surely need to prove fantastic at the international box office if it's to not prove a sizable bomb for the studio.

Last weekend's champ, Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation, remained No. 1 with an estimated $29.4 million.

Of the weekend's other new releases, the thriller The Gift fared the best, opening in third place with $12 million. Ricki and the Flash, starring Meryl Streep, opened in limited release in seventh place with about $7 million, while Aardman Animations' Shaun the Sheep was a big disappointment with roughly $4 million for 11th place.

Here are the weekend estimates BoxOffice.com:

1. Mission: Impossible -- Rogue Nation $29.4 million

2. Fantastic Four $26.2 million

3. The Gift $12 million

4. Vacation $9.1 million

5. Ant-Man $7.8 million

6. Minions $7.4 million

7. Ricki and the Flash $7 million

8. Trainwreck $6.3 million

9. Pixels $5.4 million

10. Southpaw $4.8 million

Assassin's Creed Syndicate has the most brutal action yet.

It's set in Victorian London, where the Assassins aren't in great shape......

In a move that we may or may not have predicted, Syndicate is set in Victorian London in 1868, a setting made famous by the Industrial Revolution and beautiful facial hair. It represents a shift toward the modern world as we know it, when factory-scale production and scientific breakthroughs catapulted humanity toward a techno-powered future with London at its centre. But not everybody fared so well, because as underpaid factory jobs became standard for the working class, poverty, sickness, and all-around misery among all but the city's richest skyrocketed.

There's a twist though, because it turns out that the Assassins aren't doing so well - by the time Jacob and Evie hit town, the English Assassin Order has been destroyed and the Templars run the city unchallenged. Since they can't hope to compete with the Templars in their current state, the Frye siblings start from the bottom, building their own gang to take control of the city's criminal underbelly.

A new Hitman Game !!! Hitman (2015)

In Hitman, everybody's gunning for a sharp-dressed man.....

Io Interactive has now had a single Hitman mission, its new Paris mansion level, appear in public three times - once in a level flythrough at E3, once after E3 when some, er, unauthorised leaks appeared online, and once more today in a scripted playthrough at Gamescom. What’s become clear to me, having now spent actual hours looking at this place, is that the 300+ NPCs attending the lavish fashion party inside are as important as all of the building’s easily tampered-with chandeliers and gas canisters.

They’re a more living bunch than ever, often far from the cannon fodder and set patrol routes you’d expect from a stealth game’s denizens. Walk in front of a cameraman during a news report and he and his presenter will curse you for your blatant photobomb. Unscrupulous assassins can use bystanders as squishy distractions, forcing gruesome industrial accidents and using the collateral damage (and all the screaming) to make an unseen entrance into restricted territory. AI characters can be unwitting weapon mules (just hide a pistol in amongst some food and watch waiters do the dangerous work for you), or just the tried-and-tested moving mannequins for your soon-to-be-stolen future disguise.

More importantly, though, they can now thwart your best-laid plans. New Enforcer enemies - indicated by a big, bright triangle over their heads - will recognise if you’re not one of their own. It’s always been a little odd that a man with a whacking great barcode on his head can put on a big hat and become invisible to every one of the world’s chefs - Enforcers should remedy that glaring issue a little. Wear a costume an Enforcer recognises - in this demo, a bodyguard’s get-up - and they’ll still scrutinise your face and take appropriate action. It’s a neat way to force an extra reaction out of players, take away a layer of safety you could previously rely on.

Both demos have yet to show how those NPCs react when you are discovered, which is the next point of interest - if my experience is anything to go by, being found out, making your escape and recalibrating is as much a part of a Hitman game as making a perfect, ghostly run.

At least we know that the new game should make those situations traditionally exhilerating. The much-maligned Absolution offered players more chances than ever to deal with a dangerous situation, when most Hitman players preferred never to get into them in the first place. That game’s Instinct mode (see also: Eagle Vision, Detective Mode, anything where a normal man suddenly puts on invisible X-ray specs) returns here, but it’s now an optional extra, more of a hint view than a key gameplay mechanic.

And, in classic style, it also looks as though you can make things more difficult for yourself and Agent 47. The demo shows how weapons can be used non-lethally (hilariously, in this case, the demonstration involved a crowbar being thrown at a man’s head from point-blank range) - you can bet your easily snuffed-out life that that means runthroughs which include no kills beyond the necessary hit will be rewarded.

There’s much we still need to see from the new Hitman - not least another level - but this uncharacteristically long look at a single area has at least convinced me that Io is creating a blood-strewn toybox of the sort we hope for from Hitman, rich with opportunity and threat in equal measure. It’s the second part that has me most excited - if they’ve made putting on a disguise more dangerous, what else is safe?

Metal Gear Solid 5's Multiplayer Won't Be Available at Launch.

Players hoping to try Metal Gear Online will have to wait a bit for the release of the multiplayer mode....

Fans who are hoping to play competitive multiplayer in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will have to wait a few weeks after the game's launch. Developer Konami today announced that Metal Gear Online, MGS V's multiplayer mode, will be released on October 6 on consoles and sometime in January 2016 on PC.

Although it's unclear why the multiplayer mode is coming after the release of the base game, Konami suggested in a press release that Metal Gear Online on PC was delayed because the release date of the PC version of MGS V was moved up. In the same release, the studio announced that the PC version of MGS V would launch on September 1, the same day as the console versions. Previously, it was planned for a September 15 release.

Street Fighter 5 Adds Vega, But He Looks and Plays Differently.

Capcom's fighting game introduces another playable character; see some images and get the first details....

Street Fighter V's roster continues to grow today, as Capcom confirmed that Spanish ninja Vega has joined the mix as the latest confirmed playable character for the upcoming fighting game.

His mask and claw from previous games are carried forward with Street Fighter V, but this time he's wearing a shirt. Also, while Vega will retain his famous speed and dexterity, he now has two modes: with claw and without. With his claw sheathed, Vega gains access to other moves, including a command grab.

"Knowing when to toggle between the two styles will be the key to success, and it also allows for new combo possibilities," Capcom said on its blog.

In addition, Vega in Street Fighter V cannot pick up his claw once it's knocked off. As such, those who play with Vega will want to learn both fighting modes if they want to succeed.

Gamescom attendees this week can try out Vega at the Sony booth on the show floor.

Street Fighter V launches in spring 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PC. The game will never be released on Xbox One. For a closer look at Vega, check out some images in the gallery below.

Fallout 4 Has 400+ Hours of Content.

"I've played the game for probably 400 hours, and I'm still finding stuff that I haven't seen," producer says.

There was never much of a doubt that Fallout 4 would be an absolutely massive game that will surely end up taking up a lot of your time. But now, the game's lead producer has said he's played the post-apocalyptic RPG for 400 hours already and still has not seen everything it has to offer.

In an interview with OXM (via gamespresso), Jeff Gardiner said, "I've played the game for probably 400 hours, and I'm still finding stuff that I haven't seen."

Gardiner went to say that this is partly the result of the game's crafting system, which sounds fairly extensive and intricate. He also talked about how players will need to scavenge for very specific items.

"It's all common sense visual stuff. If it doesn't connect to the generator, the power doesn't work. You can actually flag stuff to say, 'I'm looking for this stuff because I want to make this' which means that when you're scavenging anything that fulfills the requirement gets flagged in the world," Gardiner explained. "When you connect stuff to the computer terminal you have a lot of control and sort of fine tuning. If you've got something that plays music, you can actually define how it's playing music."
